The trade-off between freedom and security, so often proposed so seductively, very often leads to the loss of both.

The New River Rendezvous

Climbing pictures from the New River Rendezvous in West Virgina will be available shortly!

Ouray ICE!

I've just returned from a little ice climbing holiday at the Ouray Ice Park, which is quite easily one of the greatest places on Earth! Well, maybe not the greatest place on Earth but it's one of the best venues for ice climbing in the country. We, John and I spent 2 days climbing in the park where we climbed basically all day long and on Saturday we climbed with Clint Cook a guide/owner of San Juan Mountain Guides in the backcountry. Needless to say this was one of the best climbing trips I've ever been on and I'm looking forward to getting back out their next season, hopefully for a bit longer!

My pictures from the trip, Johns will be coming soon!

Roaring Brook Falls

Only two weeks since my last visit to the Adirondacks and winter is back in full force, more importantly Roaring Brook Falls is in condition. If you don't know what I mean click here and take a quick peak at what it looked like two weeks ago. No that's not ice but running water in January!

This trip is really short notice but a great deal of fun to say the least. I've been waiting to lead RBF since Scott and I first climbed it with Chad Kennedy back in 2004. Conditions where great, a bit overcast when we started but as the morning wore on it cleared up nicely and the temperature was around 5 degrees with a light wind. Compared to Cascade Pass RBF was virtually wind free!

61 degree's in January

So the first trip of 2007 is behind me and we made due with deplorable conditions, 61 degrees in January doesn't not make for ideal ice climbing! The only saving grace was that we drove up early in the week before everything melted away.

Look and feel updated

it's been a while since i refreshed the sites theme so i decided to go and poke around the Drupal Themes area this morning and i stumbled across bluebreeze. all and all i find it a very appealing theme and more subtle then the previous theme. i've run into a few layout issues with the theme that i need to resolve but they should be easily resolved.

enjoy,
