mt. rainier and hood getting close

the mt. rainier/mt. hood trip is finally starting to feel real! i purchased our airfare the other day so all we really have to get is a car and a hotel for a few nights but i hope we have these last few traveling logistics tied up by the end of next week.

i really need to ramp up my training now, i feel that i've kind of been slacking on the cardio front! i've only been getting out like once a week for a 3 mile run and have done any backpacking since the gothics trip, other then lugging around a pack full of gear when jeff and i go trad climbing. this weekend i'm heading down to alleganay for a little expo with the boys but i plan on getting in a nice long trail run and/or a power hike. it'll be fun to see how jeff keeps up :)

great climbing this weekend!

a few of us took advantage of this weekends great weather and got in alot of rock time, it was sooo nice to get onto real rock for a change! after the rain friday and the expected rain into saturday morning jeff and i kind of concluded that the weather wasn't going to cooperate for trad climbing at buffalo crag on saturday. around 10am saturday jeff calls cuz it's starting to clear up a bit and thinks we should head up. i can see toronto from my house and it looks grey but what the hell, it's not like i have anything else to do.

we arrive at rattlesnake after an uneventful drive around noon. it's a little grey outside but the sun keeps peeking out to say hey, not to mention it's a little brisk! we gear up and hit a nice little warm up to the left of #10, to the right of the memorial plague. jeff stickes the route while i follow an clean, all and all it's a good warm up. we cruz down the 4th class, pack up and head down to buffalo crag.

more gothics pics

john sent me his pics from gothics so now there's a nice little collection in the gallery.

gothics trip

so this past weekends gothics trip turned into quite the little epic, a dropped ice tool, almost being blown off gothics eastern summit, a bushwack off the mountain at night!

mike and i picked up jeff at the early hour of 630am friday morning and started heading east on the I-90. we meet up with john at a stewards shop in poland, ny which is our usual meeting locale. from here split into 2's for the remainder of the drive but kept in touch with some radios that john brought. after a quick stop for lunch and a to go order of that evening dinner we arrived at the gardner parking lot around 1pm. the hike from the garden to the lean-to was uneventful other then the few people that we passed, though it snowed most of the way back.
